Who we are

Jason Scully is the founder of North of Known.

He works with leaders inside organizations large and small who are trying to make progress when things feel complicated or stalled. Often the work starts when growth slows, teams lose alignment, or it’s no longer clear what to focus on next.

Jason has spent much of his career working in digital commerce across UX, engineering, and product. He’s built consumer experiences that span discovery, search, cart, fulfillment, and store-connected experiences, and has seen firsthand how hard it is to do that work well at scale.

A core part of his work is helping teams understand what people are actually trying to do, using Jobs to Be Done as a practical way to make sense of customer behavior and tradeoffs. From there, he helps teams make clearer decisions about priorities, structure, and where to spend their time.

Jason also works closely with product teams on how they plan and run their work. He helps teams use Shape Up and related approaches in a way that fits their context, and supports leaders in improving product operations, collaboration, and delivery. The focus isn’t just on building better products, but on building product teams and organizations that can keep making steady progress.

North of Known was created to keep things simple. Jason works directly with leaders and teams, stays close to the work, and helps sort through what matters most.

The practice is intentionally small. The goal is to be useful, do the work well, and leave teams better off than he found them.

North of Known is based in Los Angeles and works with teams across the U.S.
